Question: I can understand stripping CDTitles 'cause they won't work even on a hacked machine, but why take out the BGChanges?

Awesome, PM or email me if you find any weird bugs.

Current known bugs and other news is on the RGCanada thread. I don't want to cross-post across five forums, so read there for news / version updates.

Well, if you're converting to be r21 ready and the bgchanges don't get copied over, might as well strip them out of the simfile. I think that upon load, the itg machine tries to verify the location of all the bgchanges graphics, so it might speed up the loading speed slightly and let you put a couple more on a key.

But you have protocols for images, which won't load on an ITG machine. I can understand if you're doing either r21 or r21+hacked, but right now the program takes care of r21+alittlebitofhacked.

Right, but there's an option to strip them out too. The idea is the tool can be used for either hacking simfiles onto the machine, or for putting simfiles on your usb key. Just pick the appropriate options depending on the circumstances.

Actually I AM cheating a bit. The program has a difficult time determining which files in the simfiles folder are just junk, and which ones are BGChanges images/videos/ini files. And it won't copy subfolders underneith the simfile. So if you have BGChanges in a simfile, those files might not make it over.

Changes
- Music gets a pre-conversion boost of +6db, not +8db. The original default might cause some songs to clip slightly. Alternatively you can just lower the volume level to 93/94%

Would you be able to create an option to resize the banners to 256x80 and backgrounds to 320x240? That's currently the most tedious thing to do manually when converting songs for ps2 use - and if this converter could do it all at once that would save me so much time.

welp, since the link is dead (not a surprise, really, seeing the date of the post), guess I'll do everything manually through Audacity.

AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I JUST NOTICED THIS

+8db might cause some files to clip slightly? Ha ha, no shit. Ever notice that the waveform starts to clip at +1db in Audacity's viewing window? Fucking LOL. I really need to write a guide on this shit too if this is what people think is acceptable. I don't even give my oggs a +2db boost (post compressor), let alone 6 or 8.

sorry if i'm repeating cuz i've read only the first post

• it would be better if the software will check the source bitrate and if it's let's say =<128 then it'll encode the file with no more than let's say 0.6q. i guess that's not very easy if it's just the .bat though

• MONO thing is a nice touch expect the cases of some of the flawed production cases or "artistic" cases when monoing the track can kill a large amount of bass or hats and that can be crucial while playing in the noisy environment

• also would like to know about that "normalization" thing and... would not recommend it.
most of the time all MP3 tracks that are done nowadays are not just 0.0 dbFS — they're peaking over. check any of your mp3s in the audio editor and see that it clips (peak meters will read over 0.0, showing you positive numbers) because some inexperienced boy done/encoded the track and limited it really hot (like -0.1dbFS). further encoding of such a hot WAV to MP3 will give you random peaks that will clip over 0dbFS. why should it bother you? because an overall normalization algorith will look for the highest peak and (sic!) GET IT 0.0 dbFS. so effectively you might get the opposite result — you might get you tracks softer than before.

it's a totally different story if you're using a limiter, not normalization. but this approach has it's flaws, too, and this I won't do myself and won't recommend to as well.

...and grooving hell, +8dB boost will clip. SLIGHTLY, RIGHT. I've just read what mute've posted :)
you can use limiter to squash a track +8dB but if the track was OK before than you won't get a positive result, you will get a pile of shit.
