New Card

Postby NEMO on Wed Mar 14, 2007 12:29 am

I lost my Arcade USB Drive. I'm getting a new one tomorrow at Staples. (Ixtli, I'm getting the one you told me to get. You should be proud of your little Nemo. ^^)

The Staples ones are great. The only problem with them is that they are only 64MB, so you'll only be able to play with about 20-25 songs at a time. If you can, I reccommend stopping by the UMASS campus store and picking up a Kingston DataTraveler flash drive, if there are any left. They are $10, 128MB, and work like a dream.

If you have 2 drives plugged in and are playing 2 player, and both players have, say, 45 songs on their respective drives, would the machine have trouble loading them all?

Yeah, the machine only loads as many songs as it can in like 10 seconds, so even if you have two cards plugged in with 50 songs each, it will only be able to read one of them in a given amount of time. I'm not even sure if it will just read from one or a combination of both. You're much safer just going with one card with about 40-45 songs on it.

So, you use the UMass card, right?

Ok.

Postby NEMO on Wed Mar 14, 2007 7:23 pm

Okay, so this is the one I got. I seriously doubt it will work well, now that I read about it, but hey. I kept the reciept, though, so I can always return it. Any suggestions?

Yeah, that U3 thing looks kind of strange. Anything that's not just straight flash drive usually doesn't work. Good luck with it though.

Well, I had a gay flash drive named Lola that worked this one time.

Well played. What he means is that certain flash drives that attempt to draw power from the machine (e.g. iPod shuffles etc..) will not load. Just get a simple one and you'll be fine.

It was like 512 for 13 or 14 dollars. Solid state memory is really really cheap now a days.
