Dude, he wants to be relieved of his FOTW duties. Pretty sure that means he doesn't want to be admin.

AST is always an hour later than it should be, so you're constantly running with toast in your mouth.

I don't think he meant permanently. I think. We will need a replacement for zimlord. When the time comes, Joe, TEEX, or I will probably host the new FotW auditions.

Well if he does wanna quit, he hasn't said anything to Joe or I.

I have spoken to Joe about it a few times in the past. There are days in which I wish I didn't do FOTW anymore, but overall, it's not too bad. It's just that I've been doing it for what? 2 years now? Plus since Zim quit, my rotation comes up more often, and when it is my turn, I'm either a) too busy (almost always the case), b) too lazy, or c) not inspired to write about since the 'best file' that week is still something I personally consider to be mediocre. Plus I'm skeptical as to whether or not people really care if it ends up being late or not. When it is, no one aside from the other helpers says anything. A few people already admitted to never reading the reviews anyway (unless they're the ones being featured). In the end, I'll still do what I have to do.

I'll just be happy as long as the next DRAFT happens, and we get to do another site pack in about five years.

i have a feeling teex would be a bit more interested in doing FOTWs again if we considered DXs in the mix, but i can't blame him for his apathy towards it. i also did really like the idea of FOTW somehow becoming a more community-oriented/democratic system but that idea never took off (and even if it did having an admin to implement it would probably be needed)

as for the admin thing, yeah i suppose we do need a new one to organize events and other objectives or some shit, but as pointed out the site has not crumbled into stepmania anarchy yet due to the lack of one

as for a pack thing, please god whoever runs the next one use an SVN or some sort of fucking repository

Dropbox. Especially due to the ease of access to it.

I'll admit that I'm one of those people, but that's in part because it's never about a doubles chart, and doubles is all I play anymore. I don't even download singles simfiles anymore, unless they're in large packs.

As for the site not collapsing without an admin, well, just wait.

Having more than one person work on a single file using only Dropbox is just asking for trouble. +1 for SVN

We used Dropbox for Exceltastic Four and it worked fine. If there are any conflicts (fairly unlikely unless two people save the same file at the same time) it just puts both versions there and lets you sort it out. It's considerably simpler to understand than SVN, the only disadvantage is that Joe can't use it.

It works, but it sounds like a force fit. Dropbox is more for sharing than collaborative editing. You don't get a log or easy diffs either, something I like to inspect every once in a while.

The only problem I could see using SVN are file conflicts if two people were working on the same step or TortoiseSVN gets confused. I've had artists with no technical knowledge use it just fine by not touching any of the deep features. Update, edit, commit. Now if we were talking about distributed systems like Git or Mercurial that would be overkill.
