Advice for buying beatmania on ps2.

Postby Dirkzy on Thu Jan 19, 2012 5:00 pm

My friend found a free ps2 and two metal dance pads for free on craigs list. He sold me the ps2. Now that I have a ps2, I want to play beatmania. I have seen sellers pricing the turntable and game for 25 -30 dollars. Is this a reasonable price and what should I look for while testing the table? I have never played the game before so I do not think I can test the quality accurately. Should I try and buy a new turntable?

Second question. My friend sold me the ps2 with 1 controller, 1 memory card, 2 guitars (w/ guitar hero 2) for $30. Did he give me a fair price or rip me off? I thought it sounded reasonable, but hes cheap.

never played beatmania, but $30 is very cheap. Last time i bought a ps2, it was like 2 years ago, 80€ ( aproximately $80) for the console, some games, 2 joysticks and a memory card. the console is already dead. i think it's a good deal.

If you could actually FIND a beatmania US bundle THAT cheat these days, then yes, go for it. No complaints there. Many people sell the turntable itself for $30~60.

The game itself, used, at any Gamestop should be less than $10.

As for the second part, he ripped himself off. The controller and memory card alone, new, are $30. The fact you got two guitars and one of the better versions of Guitar Hero is an added bonus.

do this immediately, use BMUS to get started with the series, then mod the groove out of your ps2 with swapmagic or something and play the JP releases

How much would be a fair price to sell a USKOC for anyway? I've been meaning to sell mine since I don't even play anymore (my PS2's hooked up to an HDTV and I can't even find Swap Magic anyway)

Dang, I let mine go easy then. I sold my BMUS and controller to a friend yesterday for only $20.
But I only bought it for $20, and I wasn't playing it anyway.

You broke even, but USKOC's are decently hard to find these days.
