DDR Song Pack *with updated X3 ratings* [Complete]

Postby T-Dog! on Tue Sep 20, 2011 6:06 am

I originally was doing this just for me, but I thought I would share with anyone else who would want these files.

The pack I am organizing is a huge pack of official DDR files that have appeared in either DDR X or X2, arcade or console, regardless of region; however, will all be rerated on the X scale system. A user by the name of Chewi* over on zenius i vanisher started doing this, but hasn't finished doing all the rerates or worked on in doing so in the last couple of months, so I thought I would finish doing so.

Credits go to him for doing the rerates to all the songs that appeared in 1st mix through Extreme, X2 rerates for X3. new songs to X3, and X rerates for songs that appeared in the console releases of Supernova 2. Credits go to me for organizing all the rerates for songs that appear in DDR Supernova, Supernova 2, and X rerates in X2.

I meticulously and methodically went through each and every one of these files to make sure that they are as accurate as possible, but that doesn't mean that I am not capable of making any mistakes. If you find a mistake somewhere, such as an incorrect ranking, or quite possibly an incorrect step chart, please let me know. I did have to drag specific files from various folders in order to compile what I think is the correct compilation of files for it's respective mix. Also, if you find any Novice Doubles, Singles Novice X-Specials, or any chart that doesn't belong, let me know and I will make the proper corrections to the sm and reupload.

And for good measure, this pack should be free of DWI or OLD files. Not just to save space, mind you, but I just don't like clutter.

All the files were originally downloaded from zenius i vanisher, so unfortunately, you are stuck with the offsets/syncs/music cuts/graphics they came up with.

SPECIAL NOTE - I should probably explain a couple of things. I deliberately did not include the "HOW TO PLAY" files from X2. Also, RED ZONE had a sweet video used in beatmaniaIIDX, but not in DDR, but I went ahead and put that video in the SuperNOVA folder anyways.

[UPDATE FOR 09/27/2012]

I went ahead and updated this little project of mine, now with the ratings in X3. Here are the following changes that have been updated:

-Found a couple of the files I have previously uploaded that did have incorrect ratings, but now they have been corrected.
-Updated as many bg graphics as possible. There were plenty of updated graphics for this release. Also, all banners have been replaced with 256x256 jackets. Any song that never had a jacket image (due to not appearing in X2 or X3 arcade, but still had an X-rating), I created them from the songs bg graphic (scaled from either 320x240 or 640x480 down to 256x256). I found a bunch of jackets that were supplied from al2k4 on ziv, so credits to him for supplying those.
-I noticed that people downloaded the movies about as much as the simfiles themselves, so the zips now include the movies altogether. Also, I found the sakura storm video from universe 3 that ziv no longer had.
-Because I was a bit OCD with this compilation, the folder structure is cleaned up a bit. For instance, the subtitle of a song has a space between all the song names [ "Paranoia(X-Special)" becomes "Paranoia (X-Special)". Also, correct capitalization/punctuation for damn near all songs should be accurate [ "Miracle Moon(L.E.D.LIGHT STYLE MIX)" now becomes "Miracle Moon ~L.E.D.LIGHT STYLE MIX~" [Pretty much however it looks in it's jacket/bg graphic, that is how it is spelled out. There were a couple of different files that didn't work out, because notepad prompted that making any sort of changes would reformat the file, and I was like no]. Also, this should also apply to how the titles and subtitles appear in the song wheel as well. Also, I added the star and heart symbols to all the applicable songs "CANDY heart/star, etc." No heart/star symbols in the folder names, because for some reason, stepmania did not load those folders. Also, I did NOT put any of the subtitles in the subtitle lines in the sms. Hope that isn't a big deal...
-I decided to lump all the console only files in their appropriate mix folder, meaning that any song that appeared in any home release of X or X2, but never saw the light of day in the arcade, those songs went into their respective arcade mix folder.

Anyways, since I went through all this effort to clean up the folder structure/appearance of the files, further updates will probably just contain graphics/sm files only (no movie or music files), to minimize downloading time for future updates. Sorry if downloading all this stuff again is inconvenient, but I hope everyone enjoys this update.

To appreciate these files a bit more, I recommend keeping DDR stuff in SM5, and use the X2 theme. Keep all of your ITG stuff on oITG/3.95.

For X3 vs. 2ndMIX, I'm sure most of you know to just check ziv, but here is the link anyways...[Edited 03/02/13 - link is now for the official release of X3, no longer the WIP thread.]

Haha I just did like, the opposite of this for our machine. That is I got all the AC DDR files, rerated everything from X and X2 to the old scale, reformatted all banners to fit ITG themes and got rid of Japanese / special characters in song titles and artists. It took a while.

The only reason why I'm not doing this is because Max 300 =/= FELMO, yet both are 10's on the old scale. There are tons of other examples where these kind of difficulty rating inconsistencies occur. Also, are you using a legit ITG2 cabinet, or OpenITG cab? I know that in the metrics there is an option to not show the native language or symbols in the song title or artist credits for OpenITG. I never messed with an actual ITG cabinet though.

Like i said, I was mainly doing this for me. However pointless it will be for everyone else, it serves purpose for at least me. My main motivation is to get back into shape and playing ITG/DDR again, but lots of the newer DDR charts are poorly misrated, especially those in SuperNOVA2, so I thought that I would update as many of the DDR officials in X or X2 with it's new official ratings. Not all 7, 8, 9, and 10 footers are designed the same, so I appreciate the new 1-20 ranking system.

you should probably ask and if you're allowed, incorporate mute's resyncs to whatever you can. The stuff on ZIV is horrrrrribly off

I was definitely going to ask mute when the time comes. I was just waiting for him of officially release more of his resyncs. If I was granted permission, I was going to keep this pack updated as best as possible with his resyncs, plus add new songs to X3 or rerated songs from X2, so don't worry 8) .

I rerated stuff like FELM too (I think I put the challenge/expert chart as a 12). And OpenITG, but I just went and changed it all anyway. I needed to go through and move a bunch of stuff to the #SUBTITLE field anyway.

hey xythar, would you mind sharing those banner/bg resizes if you have them backed up still? i can do it myself, but it would take a lot more time for me to resize everything on my own....

Through personal experience, they've gotten a little better with sync on some of the newer charts. A lot of the older ones were ripped straight from DDRUK when they were still around. Back then, no one could really sync all that great.

I have had to retouch the sync on a couple of them since we added an X to Newer CS folder on the Break's machine (God what the hell happened with Blue Rain and Horatio's sync). Most of X2 seems to be fine for the most part despite their weird BPM values. I've gotten a lot of 99s on those charts and anyone who's played on the Break's machine knows of its odd timing issues.

But god, X is wonky. Some offsets are just completely off.

If you have Photoshop I can see if there's some way to export the action so you can use it, that way you can just run it on all the banner files and it will update them automatically without you having to sort them in/out of directories

gimme a few days though

Heh, I've never really used Photoshop, or any photo altering or graphic making program, but I guess I can use this as an excuse to learn.

@geno, oddly enough, those gameplay graphics only appeared when my folder was named "08th Mix - EXTREME." In my own personal directory, I just dumped all of the songs into one since folder and called it "DanceDanceRevolution." After reloading all the songs and clearing the cache, I started playing the same Extreme files again, and the normal ITG3 graphics were used. I don't know what happened there.
