Thanks for the heads up.

What is this event anyways? I'm not caught up with these events that the 8otb would usually hold (I only know they held a Technika 2 event, something to do with Shoreliners crew on Bemanistyle)

And I don't mind the "intense crowding" I'm used to how Chinatown Fair was packed usually on Fridays or on the weekends.

Kings of the Coast is a series of rhythm game tournaments hosted by Jimbo and several volunteers once every summer at 8 on the Break. Tournaments include DDR Extreme (singles and doubles), ITG2, Popn Music, IIDX, PIU2, and DJMAX Technika. I heard recently that we might be including Guitar Freaks this time since we apparently just got a new machine recently. Each tournament fee is usually $10. You can enter as many as you like. Each participant pays an additional entrance fee which is also $10. That money goes to the pot that will be distributed between the 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners of Kings of the Coast.

Depending on how you fare in each tournament, you earn points which help determine who those "overall winners" are. In addition to those cash prizes, they also earn giant helmets made out of paper maché.

This will actually be the last Kings of the Coast, or at least the last one hosted by Jimbo since he will be going away for college.

That's a shame. I would have been interested in going next year. This year is just impossible for me. Hope someone else hosts it.

Sounds extremely interesting... I really enjoy playing Guitar Freaks and Popn Music, I suck at IIDX though -.-

I guess I'll observe this event if a date is given, honestly I'm not that good when it comes to tournaments (I'm usually a person that just plays for fun rather than participating in competitive play :P)

I lied. It's basic ITG. R11.

Yea.

The monitor is replaced with a much larger one, probably an HD flat screen. There's obvious screen/pad lag, and the pads themselves aren't always most responsive. I felt like I was playing on a pad from DDRGame that had a decent bar. Just ITG1/2 and no customs. Can't even have customs on flash drives because it's not r21/r23.

The machine isn't maintained. End of story. It's a Roxor Dedi, by the way. :X
