Song Cutting Method 3
Step 1: Get a pair of scissors.
Step 2: Cut away.

Ground breaking idea: You're clearly perfection in every sense of the word, Mute. So how about you make a serious song cutting guide?

Uh...this is a serious song cutting guide.

Seriously though: Why bother? All that would happen is a bunch of know-it-all aspies would show up and claim that I don't know my ass from a hole in the ground, as evidenced by what happened on here and on AIJ with my syncing thread. Yeah, not worth my time. That's the entire reason why I wrote this joke guide.

Besides, I just picked up a second job and I'll be working 60-70 hours a week now. Not gonna be spending much time on simfile-related stuff anymore.

Suit yourself, and good luck with your second job.

Riiight. Because I've been dying to step this 14 minute trance house song that's been sitting in my iTunes for 5 years thanks to this cutting guide. But seriously, even if you don't have the best methods, at least there would be a helpful guide floating around somewhere. But apparently making a joke guide and poking fun at those who want to learn seems like a more effective idea.

I fully understand why Mute is not willing to write a full guide on this. Next to that, it doesn't need many words.
Just (Assuming you use Windows)

Get Sony Acid, Open up your song with it, do not use the automatic beatmapper, set the bpm of the song and use the scroll thingy next to it to accurately line up the beats to get the perfect BPM, select the erase tool and start cutting as if you are eating out of you're nose.

Oh and cut away the empty space at the beginning of the file, if there is any.

Well one, I use Macs. So the closest I can get is Garageband, but to my knowledge that only uses whole BPMs. But I know how to cut songs.

I was just referring to people in general who don't know how to cut songs in general. I'm sure there are a good chunk of people here who have been wanting to learn to cut songs. So props to you for contributing a quick guide, Wastum.

You don't even really need Sony Acid. Just sync the whole thing in SM, find out where the beginning and end points of what you want to cut are, and cut between those points with Audacity

That was a really bad description OH WELL

I simply create a click track in Audacity, line the click track up with the music, and cut at whatever point on the click track. Easy.

It only works well with whole number BPMs though.

I said I was making fun of know-it-alls aspies who question my methodology and can't back it up with legitimate factual data. Those people are not the ones who genuinely want to learn, because they go into the thing with their mind already made up that they are correct.

Well it seems Patrick already did decent tutorial, so don't even bother anymore.

But if I may put it this way: Screw them.
Just don't give a crap what the know-it-alls say, it's simple. You're so caught up with the possible negative feedback, but you're forgetting you don't have to retaliate every know-it-all thing someone says, just ignore them. Christ.

Edited Method 1, Step 2 to reflect the fact that upload tokens no longer work on GrooveStats.
