Best ITG Shoes? (Specs Inside)

Postby Case on Wed Oct 20, 2010 3:33 pm

Update: 2013/06/12 Mizuno Wave Universe's are still my personal favorite. If you are in a pinch New Balance MW00 are a great cheap shoe.

How to find shoes
The shoes you want are called racing flats. Make sure they are spikeless or you will tear them up quickly.

Shoe Specs Section
Mizuno Wave Universe 3 - 3.8 oz (By far the best shoe I have ever used)
Price: 75-120.

Asics Piranha SP - 4.2 oz per shoe (Do no buy they will tear up quick.)
Price: 58-120
Xynn And OP say they have durable problems.

Puma Tapers - 8.8 oz per shoe
Price: No Longer Available

Brooks Mach (12,13,14) Spikeless - 5.4-5.8 oz per shoe
Price: 60-70

Nike Frees - 8.1 oz per shoe (Not a Recommended Shoe, inside is slanted)
Price: 85.

Nike Mayflys - 4.6 oz per shoe (great shoe will not last more than 6 months)
Price: 44.95

New Balance MW00 - 6.0oz per shoe (Great Shoe, will last)
Price: 50-80

Vibrams - 5 Finger (Great Grip, takes some getting used to.
Price: 120 (Do not pay less, they will be fake)

I added them to the list and found their shoe weight.

Weights really don't matter that much. Material and shape of the bottom are much more important to the overall feel of a shoe.

Also, there are already a ton of shoe threads.

Vashen your completely true, but all the ones I have seen have only talked about a single shoe, I was hoping for a more broad spectrum, in order to find a good pair. At the moment, it looks like I'll order tapers and give those a go.

Although, I can't find a place to buy Tapers at online. :/

Brooks Mach 12 Spikeless. 5.6 ounce racing flat. I haven't tried them but they look promising.

There is no "best ITG shoe" though. It's whatever is most comfortable for you.

Any shoe that still grips while you sweat on the panels is a good shoe.

You need a light shoe with the amount of grip you want and a flexible arch. You need the flexible arch so you can cheat hands easily. Below 6 ounces it's probably not worth it to struggle for a lighter shoe.

I followed you on the Asic Piranha, and they were quite comfortable, despite the fact they fall apart pretty easily. I think I'll give these a go and see where to go from there.

I also like how they look over the Piranhas, but admittedly I went with the SP2 because they were 60 dollars less because they are gray and green.

I did this in about a month, I do play once a day for about 12 songs.

I've already had 3-4 bits fall off, but I was thinking about getting some shoe glue to fix the part that are peeled back really good. The other shoe isn't quite as bad, but I just wanted to show people what I meant when I said not very durable.

My first pair of Tapers lasted me for over 2 years and even then they weren't really even destroyed. And mind you, I play a lot of hard shit, so they take some abuse.

Don't bother with glue. Trust me I've tried that and shit falls apart just as fast all over again.

And Pope, Go groove yourself..lol Some of us are unable to acquire tapers. We're doing our best to find alternatives.

As they wear down its like they get even lighter lmao

I recommend the NIKE MAYFLY, which I used for a while in 2008:

very light, very flexible, lots of support (this can be a bad thing though)
