Er, DDR X machines

Postby Poon on Tue Feb 23, 2010 12:34 am

sorry if this isn't very "in depth of a topic". Olawdy.
But anyway. Am I the only one that dislikes the DDR X machines?!
The buttons are ick, and the pads are... very unflattering. And the layout. It's like... ew D:
The only thing I like about it is the huge screen. :<
Does anyone else think that? ;3;
Discuss DDR X cabinets or anything else?

Good thread, haha. Also, all very true.

The only good thing I noticed about DDRX is that the pads actually start to work properly after they've been "broken in"

A couple months of kids stopping on them and they're good to go.

The one in our mall is in such bad condition.
The guys who are supposed to look over the machines don't take care of them very well. i remember for a while the left arrow on the left side was broken. Even if it's fixed now, I bet it still sucks. xDD
The old machine was sooo much better. It was a Supernova2.

Wow, SHOCK, brackets on pads. Must have finally taken into consideration that BRACKETLESS PADS FAIL. Digging the lights though.

Kimono princess must have been released a little earlier, but for those who haven't seen the chart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zz2Vx4ybhWA . It takes a more ITG-esque turn and it will be on DDRX2. If you already seen it months before, you have to realize that this is taking a turn for the better. At least we have a new director for X2 rather than a moron who asked simfile artists to make shit rather than quality.

I gotta say that cabinet does look pretty cool, although I still think those light towers on the sides of the machine are pointless and a waste of electricity.

Well, casual players will be attracted more like... well... moths. Guess the theory is "The more lights we got, the more people will gather.". I don't know. Hahahah.

That DDR x2 cabinet will make me go blind. x__x;;
Happy about the different pad design, though.

I like having Epileptic seizures during gameplay. Thanks to DDRX2, I can finally have them!
Glad we all complained about how shit the pad was, though. It's going to blow if I find out it's a wooden pad.
Still shocks me to this day when I was setting up the cabinet with my friend that we found out it was a wood
panel we were setting up. :(

I find them distracting sometimes, but I can ignore the lights enough.
Wait, you mean the DDRX cabinet at Golfland?
I hope the pad isn't wooden, but as long as it works, I guess. And if it will stand up to the merciless stomping of kids, then I can be much happier. :D

Yeah, I set that cabinet up with Roxas during the first week of summer vacation. They fixed the timing and sync and such later on. It works pretty well now.

And man, people could stomp all they want. I think I'm more worried about the kid who thought doing skateboard tricks on the ITG pads at Oakridge was fine.

Skateboarding on the ITG pads? That's not cool, not to mention that looks ridiculous.

Maybe I'll walk to Golfland sometime and try the machine out there. I'm hoping it doesn't rip you off as much as the one at Oakridge.

It's the typical teenager, wasn't expecting him to do any worse than that.

It's still a dollar a game if I'm not mistaken.

Geez, a dollar? :/
Oh well.
I haven't gone into Golfland's arcade for about 3 years, so I'm hoping they have some new games, and hopefully I'll do better on their DDRX cabinet than the one at the mall. The newer layout of the Oakridge arcade makes it seem impossible to clearly hear the music.

I will admit though, the DDRX cab at SVGL is pretty damn better than SJ Golfland. Either way, for any DDRX cab, you need to adjust your ITG timing to DDR timing a bit.

Oakridge unfortunately will no longer cater to players who actually contribute money to ITG or DDR after the August incident. Then again, they never had before then, so it can't be helped. I was thinking about trying to get a part time job there so I can fix shit, but I don't know if they will make me arcade management or not. It's a hit or miss.
