Non-Music Gaming Accomplishments

Postby TEEX on Tue Jun 30, 2009 3:20 pm

Speed run record for Mega Man X is 46 mins.
Speed run record for Mega Man X2 is ~51 mins.

I beat The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in one sitting without dying. (count at the end of the game read 000)

I beat Chip 'N' Dale 2 on my second time ever playing it.
(on emulator, NO state saves)

Star Fox SNES
100% on Route 1
99% on Route 2

I beat Super Mario Bros. (NES) 3 times consecutively w/ 3 deaths, 0 Game Overs (after pulling an all-nighter).

Anyone else have something to share?

I got sick of Prince Of Persia (Sands of Time, Wii) after the hanging gardens part. It's going to be a long time before I bother finishing it.
Other than that, nah, nothing within the last 2 years.

Still blows my mind.

I beat A Link to the Past with a count of 13 (something around there). I think two of them were from the first dungeon  It's harder with so few hearts.

I'm trying right now to beat Street Fighter II World Warrior on a difficulty of 8, but I never was good at fighting games :?

The notes in that section are neither 12ths at 180 bpm nor 16ths at 180 bpm, but they are a lot lot closer to 16ths at 180 bpm than 12ths.

Where in the first dungeon? The boss? If so, all it takes is 2 arrows is kill each of those jumping things, then the last one that comes after you is just a matter of timing.

Haha, same here. Mortal Kombat (III,Ultimate,Trilogy) are the only fighting games I'm decent at. Oh, and Killer Instinct, but that's because I'm kinda cheap.

I don't really have any, but do you want to challenge me? :O
You should give me a game challenge. Kind of like what my friend is doing on his livejournal:

I unofficially have the fastest speed run for 100% in Spyro the Dragon (2 hours 3 minutes). The official record is 2:19:43. I used to spend my days just playing it and passing it all day. I really had nothing better to do.

I uh.... Beat Super Paper Mario in one sitting, with only the one death you are supposed to get. However, I do admit that I did go away for a few minutes near the beginning where you have to run on the wheel. I tied down the left button on the D-Pad and went away to get food and pee for a few moments. Other than that, 20 SOMETHING HOURS OF HELL.

Topic title changed to avoid confusion since there are non-bemani music games.

I'll probably post some pokemon and PS2 accomplishments whenever I get around to playing games again lol

Okay, here's one from many years ago.
I beat Super Metroid with 21% item collection. I did use save states somewhat.
Also used to regularly leave the varia suit until the end of the game, just so that I could have the fun of one-shot killing Kraid and especially Crocomire with a charged plasma shot.
I don't think I could do this now though, I was much better back then.

I've pulled a 0 death, 0 warp, 1 hit (FFFFFFFFUUUUU 5-4 you suck) run through SMB1. I have pulled a one sitting no warp, 3 death (DIAF 3-8 holy shit 2/3 deaths in this level alone) run in SMB3. I have a 96 goal, 2 death (VoB2, and me being an idiot trying to fly over Awesome DURRR HURRRR) run in Super Mario World. Full 100%s in Yoshi's Island, and I have also beaten it with my feet with ~80% per level.

As for speed runs, I have a 6:02 in SMB1 and a 14:20 in SMB3. I forgot my SMW time, bleh.

One sitting, zero character KO run through Mario RPG. (you have to know what items block one-hit KO attacks to pull this off)

I also have an unofficial world record, time trial mode of Mario's Picross. Official time is 1:02 (I think), my record is 0:51.

Yea, I'm a freaking savant at Mario games.

As for Zelda, I think my record is also 013 (no deaths, all from saves), 000 is freaking amazing. I do have a 000 in Link's Awakening, but powering off the system doesn't ruin it. I was never that good at Zelda games.

I can also rattle off loads of puzzle game scores but screw that hahaha

Wow, that's insane. How many energy tanks did you stock up on? I imagine you'd need a lot of them so you don't kill yourself navigating Norfair without the suit.
I suck at fighting Ridley unless I have a lot of missiles/super missiles. =/

I tried collecting everything, but I can only manage to beat the game with ~76%. I could probably do better now.

Steve: That's a sick SMB1 time!
As for SMB3: I doubt I can speed-run this game. World 8 takes up a lot of time for me unless I have a good stock of Raccoon leaves to fly over some levels.

I still have yet to unlock all the bonuses and 100% everything in SMW2:Yoshi's Island. I've completed everything from Worlds 1-4. 5 and 6 are tough.

Before Norfair, there are 5 energy tanks you can collect. This includes the one above and to the left of your ship. You have to get power bombs and bomb jump up to it, then be very careful of the rising and falling acid. Once you have all 5 tanks, there are actually only a couple passages with heat. You just have to be fast and not get hit more than 5 or so times in the first one, then you can refill energy in the green bubble room before getting the speed boost.

Note that the 21% run I had the Varia Suit, because otherwise I'd need 6 energy tanks to survive the rainbow blast, which would make my percentage higher.

I originally cheated to get the last 4-5 items, and used a walkthrough. A couple of them are in places where you either can't scan (middle of a wall in large room), or scanning shows nothing (a couple spots in Norfair). There are exactly 100 items.

One walkthrough suggests using 2 power bombs as you're dropping into Ridley's room. Consider it a couple of free super missile hits. Other than that, just get better at dodging. I'm just going to assume you know the secret for Mother Brain.
