My scores get overlooked on AIJ just as often as newer players, so don't take it too hard. Just play the game and have fun. If people act stupid, ignore 'em.

Except you don't even post them, especially the ones you've been getting on stuff from my second pack. I NEED PROMOTION YOU FAG

I posted like 5 quads I got from yesterday in Accomplishments XD

And I actually have files from your 2nd pack, dude. Our machine's card reader is being a dumb son of a gun :(

idk how i stumbled onto this site. i think i just googled "itg r21" and somehow, this site came up, and i joined. also, it was after itgfreak/rhythmatic went to complete shit, so i needed a new place to call home, at least in the itg/ddr forum sense. i, for one, love this site, and i loved it more when i discovered the junkyard. im usually pretty formal when i post in the main forum, but enjoy posting the occasional stupid shit in the JY but not nearly to the extent of genoisawesome .

i hope that this site stays strong, even if arcades are losing their popularity. im sure there are more ppl that play on openitg/stepmania than going to arcades anyways for their machine dancing fix, and many would still enjoy fresh, new content. save those quarters/tokens ppl. ive always enjoyed playing ddr/itg at an actual arcade when im with a larger group of ppl playing with me as opposed to just playing by myself or just one other person, or the occasional person that would come up, play one song set with me, then go away.

also, i dont give a shit about all the bullshit drama that other members are involved in. im just here to get new files, and to discuss them without being prickish about it. it would be awesome if other ppl did that too, but i know its not a perfect world. some ppl just like to press others buttons and enjoy the ensuing drama from the attention they get from it.

Like Blazing said, this discussion comes up all the time. If you do some digging, you could easily find the older topics.

*cracks knuckles"

I joined the site shortly after it went public. At the time, I usually posted on DDRFreak (which was still very active in 2006/7) and sometimes ITGFreak. I didn't really post much here until r2112 came out. 2008 was really the peak of the site, IMO. That was back when NEMO actually made the site fun, Scott and Gloves were regular posters, and the drama was fun to read. The post quality has gone downhill over the years and I don't think this site will ever be as active as it used to be. You also have to keep this is mind: A lot of us joined the forum when we were in high school and whatnot. In 2007, I was a sophomore in high school and I had no job. I had plenty of time to post and make stepcharts. Now, I'm finishing my second year of college, and I work 30+ hours a week. If I still had the free time I had back then, I would be just as active. I think the biggest factor of the inactivity is people actually have lives now.

I still have just as much interest in DDR and ITG as I had in 2007. Roxor settled not even a week after I first played ITG, so I'm not really familiar with the community before that. I still play ITG whenever I can. I'm constantly looking for more music to step. I have almost a dozen simfiles to release (I'm waiting for the comp to be over to release them). I don't have as much time now, but I still play, I still play to get better, and I enjoy the game just as much as ever. I'm not going anywhere. I'll keep posting on this site until it's shut down.

5 years from now? I will still be playing dancing games. Even if I can only play at home, I will still be playing. If this site is still up, I will still post. AIJ has been up for a long time as well, and I don't see that site going anywhere either.

ARE TWENTY ONE RODD wrote:r21freak was my escape from ITGFreak and AIJ because people that hang about there are nothing but elitist assholes, and I'm sure a few of the newest members agree with me and probably share the same reason. On AIJ or ITGFreak, you could never get praise unless you were superbly good and/or you were somewhat good friends with some of the pro members of their local community.

Honestly, it's only a few people on AIJ that are like that. The majority of the users there are ok IMO.

RODD wrote:Little Matt stuff

I was thinking about doing the same to haysuptats because it was obvious she was trolling too. I banned little matt because I've seen a ton of posts from him on AIJ about r21freak and I knew it wouldn't be long before he became a huge pest. I'm glad I didn't ban haysuptats because some of her posts are actually funny, haha. I don't think this would have been the case with little matt. haysuptats is basically NEMO's replacement.

mudkyp wrote:Little Matt is one of those people. He's one of my best friends and he's a total sweetheart once you see past his trolling. I'm the same way, I am a complete douchebag on the internet, but I would like to think I show people I'm a pretty sweet guy after they meet me, or with more conversation.

It's unfortunate that I haven't seen this side of little matt. I only know his internet persona, and I can't stand him. Maybe I would think differently if I knew him IRL, but I've never met him, so I can't say. I have seen you though, Charles. I didn't talk to you or anything, but you seemed like a good person from what I noticed. I was expecting you to be a douchebag, but I really didn't see any of that. It was at FML 2.

mudkyp wrote:R21freak and AIJ are two different animals, but good things come from both. I think AIJ's elitist label should at least be fading. There are players posting on there right now who are barely starring 11's. Yes of course there's an occasional post from a condescending asshole, but overall we motivate and push each other to improve. It's a great atmosphere.
I agree with all of this. AIJ really isn't that bad.

Dark Luke wrote:I feel like the world of dance pad gaming is dying, making me wonder whether I should continue to make files or not (is anyone going to play them?)
YES. I'd play them as long as the music is good. Your stepfiles are unique and it's nice to play some files a little different than the norm sometimes.

Pope wrote:RODD, you're being a baby lol. People troll on the internet - ignore it. If only you could read the shit Monst3rjoe texts to me lol (it's golden). Post your scores. This. NOBODY reviews any simfiles I actually release, yet I still feel motivated to make them. I will never make a simfile I don't like playing on ITG or SM, so I guess it's more for myself.

AJAX wrote:I came because I heard people liked gimmicks, so I released my Pollinosis file. I also wanted to share more files and play other people's files. It was fun :D
haha. It's strange how much the site has changed since then. We still have the occasional ZIMCORE GIMMICK file, but with NEMO and MacG gone, gimmicks haven't really been as widespread.

Blazing wrote:There will also definitely be more events after Comp VI, and hopefully we can keep the site going for a while.
I hope so too. This site really seems to be focused around site events. Y'know, HINT HINT around now is usually when the new site pack starts up. Since BiB took forever, we haven't had one in a long time and we are LONG overdue for a new one. Not sure if it's in the plan or anything, but yeah, it needs to happen.

Speaking of, I think facebook might be a factor in the lack of traffic here. Why post something here when you have half of the site on facebook? heh

Seconded (or thirded?). I've started coming up on college courses that actually demand some thought/time. Otherwise I would have already released another two 50 song packs since Gensokyo Voyage by now.

Essentially this. in order for new players to join, packs cant just be like "Im going to make things as hard as possible"
you need a ballance between the easier stuff and the harder stuff. The harder stuff for people who have been playing the game since it came out, and the easier stuff for people like me who have been playing for less than a freakin year...

That is why I try to make full charts for a lot of my songs, or even other people's charts that I put on the machine. Once I get a good amount of files (whether they be older or not) I will upload them and all of them will have full charts (some missing novice, which isn't that bad.)

It's a decent effort, but it's appreciated over here at willy p. My friends can play with me without failing on every song I play, and now, they've gotten better and some of my friends can actually play the same chart as me now.

I'll use some quotes to explain why I joined.

Yoko wrote:Yeah, this chart is just another random 16th note crap-fest.
That and its Basshunter, which means bad steps all around.

Yoko wrote:Constructive? eh, not much to say about this one. It was a boring song slapped full of 16ths runs. To be more constructive, I would suggest stepping better music, and going ONLY to the music. Don't just make random long 16ths runs.

Yoko wrote:Tiza, I'm not condescending, I'm just pointing out that the chart doesn't make sense. My opinion, and I seriously don't give a damn about what you think of me. ^__^

nyoro-n.Insane Steve wrote:hahaha, special needs guy has better FA than I do D:

nyoro-n.Insane Steve wrote:For those who would rather I post rationally: The point of this is: I've made a lot of files. Most are a lot better than this. None of the others are actually played by anyone outside of one site.
This is an experiment. I intentionally designed this chart like a Heaven or an ICWOWICF, popular charts to popular songs with steps that don't really follow the music. I wanted to see if I, a relatively unknown step artist, can make a "popular" chart by following the Basshunter/Sharpnel + 16th streeeeem formula and getting it on GS... or if people only pay attention to the step artist. Looks like the former.
For those who like this chart, you have a new warmup/stamina song, depending on your level. For those who think this chart is bullshit... I agree.
The point is, I don't get all the hate and "lol fags" going on.
For everyone else:

MORE LIEK LOLITUMA AMIRITE LOLLOLOL

STEPFILES, SRS BIZ

So, if you don't like me, you can blame Insane Steve and Yoko for me being here.
