Meh, they have different meanings. It's view versus life. The Vita is trying to breathe new 'life' into the handheld market.

Awesome job, also welcome back man.

I met my first two people in real life who had a Vita so far. They were ten year old boys. Still haven't seen another Vita in person though.

Oh, and for those who have a Something Awful account, here is a much more lively and informative Vita thread: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3466426

Well, I pretty much agree with the GamePlox review (http://www.gameplox.com/2012/06/19/gravity-rush-review/). It's a little too easy to skip the cutscenes and rarely the camera can get in the way, but I really like the flying feature and I think it's pretty unique. I love the style and the music, and it's fun running little errands.

Its about the only reason I want a Vita at this point.
Unfortunately (or fortunately whichever works) all of my money is going to my tattoo until its finished.

I envy you for now.

If you're still waiting to get one, it might work out in your favor to wait a little longer. Most people are pissed at the Vita for it taking so long for games to come out, but supposedly at the end of summer is when a lot of good ones are coming out (along with Technika Tune). I heard that Japan was getting Final Fantasy X HD remaster, and I am really hoping that they bring it stateside. So don't hurry if you don't have the funds, you might have a bigger collection available to you if you wait, and therefore less time to spend waiting for more games once you already have a Vita. -_-

Welp, I caved.
I should have spent it towards the tattoo, but that can wait another week.
I bought a Vita with Gravity Rush (just about the only game I really want to play).

Gamestop had a promotion, buy a Vita, get a 50 dollar gift card to gamestop. I turned around and bought a 16GB memory card for basically free. Then I used my reward points to get a $25 dollar off coupon plus an additional 10% for it being used to get Gravity Rush.

Spent about 280 in total. Not bad for what I got.

Anyways I realized I don't have any friends.

Portable gaming consoles are a dead market because of Android phones and iPhones. Also the fact that Sony made absurdly expensive memory cards rather than using micro SDs is even worse. The Vita is dumb idea that is bound to be a huge loss to Sony (if it hasn't been already)

iPhone and Android gaming is more a cheap way of getting a kick out of a game for a second. It also is gaining a lot of attention from people that don't normally game in any sense.

Perfect example I can think of is my sisters husbands family. His sisters (he has 3) all married with 3+ children. All have iPhones. None of them game, all of them have angry birds and temple run on their phones.
Is an example like this taking away from the handheld market? Possibly, I don't see it being a big enough reason though.

Smartphone gaming is a just a cheap way to pass sometime. We are getting some better titles here and there like Mass Effect Infiltrator and Infinity Blade. But they are far and in between to find them.

I think handheld gaming in general is just dying.
You can't just keep putting out a handheld system that offers minimal graphics with either a great story line or lots of action (nintendo).
And you can't take the other route like building a system that can compete with the big boys and ending up with an extremely expensive system that costs as much as a console (Sony).
Added onto that, as technology keeps growing. Batteries aren't. Game time gets more and more limited every year. Whats top time played 9 hours on a 3DS and 5 on a Vita?

Handheld gaming was just something that a new generation of kids didn't pick up on. I see more adults with a Vita or 3DS than I do teenagers.

As for their memory card, the only real problem is the cost. Its probably the only thing they are making money on. They only get a 70 dollar gain from every Vita sold. Thats hardly any profit when its all said and done. With marketing and the employees paid. It was a type of DRM for them. A way of securing the stealing of gaming and potentially hacking the system.

As time goes on its manufacturing cost will go down, along with the vita. Then maybe it will grab the attention of more people.

I don't care about new handhelds anymore, because a modded PSP will probably keep me occupied for the rest of my life (or as long as it works). PS Vita shall fail miserably

It already has, for the most part. As far as sales go.

Though it has some amazing games for it and more on the way. Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Resistance, Persona 4 Golden, Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward (999 Doors successor), FFX HD.
With amazing technology. Quad Core, OLED Quarter HD screen (even with the Mura problem)
