So I've been playing Doom II on Ultra-Violent. Got to level 11, but at this point I have no ammo in any of my guns right off the bat because level 10 had like 5 trillion monsters so all of my ammo got wasted. Might end up dialing back the difficulty and restarting. I just can't get through levels on Ultra-Violent anymore simply because lack of ammo.

A little side step but Doom 3 BFG looks legit.

I've been playing Doom II too :D Just beat it on Hurt Me Plenty, for the first time ever because I'm gay. I'll probably try it on Ultra-Violence soon, I wanna get through the new XBox 360 episode first. I got up to E3M3 on Doom 1 Ultra-Violence and then stopped caring so I'm hoping I'll be able to get pretty far

Some of the achievements are just retarded. Zelllooo helped me beat Icon of Sin on Ultra-Violence. That shit was hard. Also, don't even try that level on Nightmare. It's almost as hard as Call of Duty 4's VIP Airplane mission on Veteran. The MP in Doom II is really bad. Even if everyone has a full 4bar connection, there's at least a 50ms lag in all controls.

No it wasn't, just aggravating playing it on an Xbox controller instead of keyboard. What was hard was killing a Cyberdemon with my fists haha.

In other news, I dug up Jet Force Gemini and bought another copy of Advance Wars 1. This is going to be a good week of gaming.

Played Beatmania with the PS2 controller. Got an AA on a 3 on 5key, and AA on a 2 on 7key.
Shit's hard and confusing :(

Anyone have a scan of the box art? I only have the disc. It was in gamestop's yellow sleeve thing for $4

come on down and I'll let you borrow my copy. if you come over we can actually play some legit IIDX on my CRT in my room. I have 6th,8th,10th,Distorted, and US.

In other news, pulled out my old PS1 memory card and started playing Ape Escape. that music is so awesome. was practically my first foray into electronic music, albeit DnB
"Stepmania Science" methods are just an overly simplified writing method that people use to objectify an artistic process, but it's also not a good idea to just abandon convention and spew arrows haphazardly across a chart.

Doom II is pretty legit. I tried a nightmare run once, I think I got to about level 6 before giving up. Jacked up damage + double speed projectiles (like imp fireballs) + respawning enemies = no thanks. It's kinda sad though because Ultra Violence doesn't give me too much trouble (probably because I know all the levels like the back of my hand by now; knowing all the secrets really helps with Xynn's aforementioned ammo problems), but Nightmare is... well, a nightmare.

Anyway, WinDEU and I have both been playing through this cute little Doujin game that came out a few weeks ago called まりさとありすのトラップタワー (Marisa and Alice's Trap Tower!), since the folks at gensokyo.org were kind enough to make an English patch for it. I just finished getting S (or God, where I could) rank on all stages the other day. Been recording some of my best runs on each level; I think this is probably the best batch of them so far.

Playlist containing my best runs on all levels. Still not done recording the final world yet, but everything else is there.

Highly recommend this game to anyone who likes puzzle platformers, by the way. The concept is fun and unique and the level design is absolutely top notch.

You have to be one of those players who doesn't care about every secret item possible, just an objective play. I could never do it, I have to check every corridor and hallway.

Yeah, i know. Surviving Nightmare is pretty much all about speed. You kill what you need to, pick up what you absolutely need, and otherwise pretty much just rush the groove out of everything. It's been a while since I've tried, though, so I might give it another go sometime soon.

I would give it a try, but my controller is so screwed that analog sticks are so used I just automatically run without touching my controller. I may try on PC, but I prefer the Xbox version.

Picked up Theatrhythm Final Fantasy today. I had it pre-ordered, and I played it almost all day (except when at work).

I beat the main "Stories" mode of the game, and I'm now working on unlocking Dark Notes and Ultimate Arrangements.

I have beaten all the old DOS dooms on nightmere, this little problem does come up often. The best thing to keep in mind when playing doom is that there is ammo everywhere. Its pretty easy to run around randomly since you are on ultra-violent chainsawing (you do have the chainsaw from level one right? if you don't then don't even bother continuing) through the simple monsters and avoiding the big ones untill you find some ammo. Another good pointer in surviving in doom is to use your chaingun and shotgun most often (not the ssg because it wastes a lot of ammo) because those types of ammo are everywhere. cell blocks, and rockets are a little more rare. You should only use your rocket launcher for further away and harder monsters with lots of life, and use your plasma gun (i forget whats its called, its been a little bit) for monsters that need to be stunned such as mother brains, archviles, mini mother brians ect. Plus your bfg9000, you should really hesitate to use this, only use it when you are in sticky situations, like an ambush or more then one archviles shows up because those things can get nasty.

Also you might want to look up something called zdoom, its a modifier that enhances practically everything. You can customsise controls, graphic from software to opengl, and easily play custom mods. I would recommend skulltag because the community was good until everything went to shits when the lead went berserk on everyone with some old shit.
