No, Scott's not going to PAX, but he's offered us some rides if we need. I would prefer to be the least amount of bother possible, so I'm fine taking transit unless we absolutely need a ride, in the case of late-night concerts. Which Helvetica might go to instead.

But isn't the transit for Boston? Are you suggesting that Scott is driving up to Boston with you?

So this whole thing is coming up kinda soon and I was just checking what the plan is. So.

You guys get in around noon on Wednesday right? I don't know if you already planned this out, but the only way I know to get to the r21freak house from Boston is by bus. If that doesn't work out, or if you guys are stuck in Boston for whatever other reason, I get out of work around 6:15 pm. It's around a 2 hour drive, so I could grab you guys a bit late that evening and bring you back. Should be a fun week, I'm definitely excited. Just making sure you guys don't land here without any idea of where/how to get to us :D

Okie, well even if we have to wait 'till 8 or 9, Justin and I are definitely patient people and could find something to do in the meantime, especially in a new city. We got a Charlie Card in the mail, so I can load that up with money and we could check the routes to see how close we could get to your house with it..I'm assuming the buses between Boston and your town only take regular money?

oh, also, how's the weather? Is there snow? Is it like... 40 degrees? More or less? lol, I still need to pack my clothes and stuff.

We don't really live near Boston, so none of the public transportation would run even close to our place. Only a private bus line that runs a couple times a day could get you out to us. I can pick you guys up though, and we're planning on going to boston this weekend to take you guys to PAX, so it should work out fine. You'll just have to kill time in Boston on Wednesday (shouldn't be hard, Boston rocks).

Weather is getting warmer, so no snow. Temperatures probably in the 40's-50's.

Also, pm'd you my number.

thankees! I'll research some cool places around the area that maybe we could hang out at. If there's no snow atm, then that sounds like Chicago weather, which we got pretty used to.

woooo, we're leaving late tomorrow night, so that's coming up! just trying to make sure I have everything accounted for... gotta print out plane tickets and pack, double-check housing situations, and the like. I'm kind of excited

edit: oh, sorry to ask so many things, but do you know of any important/historical locations nearby? since I'm doing independent study, my history teacher wants me to like make a scrapbook of important places in the states I'm visiting.

double post, but if a ride is not available, it seems the peter pan bus costs $30 for a one-way trip from Boston to Amherst.

Boston has a lot of historic sights, but I'm not really familiar with much of the colonial history that dominates much of the city. Chinatown has a lot of plaques up that elaborate on the history of various buildings, figures and organizations, and it's just a cool place to get lost in and wander around. Maybe Ohisian could help with the more American oriented options.

As for the bus, if you guys want to then that definitely works. It would definitely be more cost effective for me to pick you up, but if you don't want to wait around (I probably wouldn't make it there until around 9:30 or so) then feel free to go for the bus. I've taken the peter pan bus a bunch of times and I am pretty sure it won't catch fire/explode. If you did take the bus, I'd just pick you up from Umass, about 10 minutes away from our place.

I'll ask Helvetica about it after I get out of school today, that definitely seems like an option.
However, sticking around in Boston might not be too bad, seeing as how I could probably kill a bunch of birds with one stone by visiting some places, taking pictures of them and getting that assignment out of the way early.
just found a guide on some tourism for people in the area for PAX, so hopefully I can check some of these out:
http://www.hgpaxeast.com/index.php?title=Tourism

Also, to get some semblance of a plan, here are some of the events I'm interested in attending during PAX.

event schedule listing:

I'm probably not going to be able to. Those are the three days I actually have class. x__x

Plus, I don't think my parents would approve of random Internet peoples sleeping over. :/

If you want unique tokens, two definite places to check would have to be Menlo Mall, as well as Chinatown Fair in NYC. I might have one lying around or I might be able to get one from a friend if you'd like one.
