You have to have them added to both the metrics.ini and the english.ini of whatever theme you're using.

Well, i just took a look at the theme's english.ini and it definitely has the settings all set. Its like i only changed the machine's skin theme but not the modified settings like the game play options or videos that the songs have. Not even the display BPM when i play a song. :(

I just followed the instructions and i thought the theme's metric's would take care of the machine's options so i just putted happy feet's theme and rebooted the machine.

No no no no no no.

The english.ini file is already in the theme folder, in the Languages subfolder. If your theme is referencing values and terms that aren't defined in the English.ini, the theme won't display them.

So you said other theme elements are working though, like the general look of the theme?

Yeah, only the general look of the theme. But the game itself has the default speed mods and regular options. How can i make the machine have the custom options? Did i do something wrong?

Huh...weird. If everything's entered properly in the metrics and the english.ini then I don't know what to tell you. Have you tried any other themes?

i'll be hacking my local machine tomorrow more than likely. it's already been hacked, so i shouldn't have to worry about bios passwords and stuff, right?

and the cache i'll be making for the new content i'll be adding obviously won't include what's already on the machine. this shouldn't be a problem, right?

I'm not the one who hacked your machine; ask them if you want to know. If you have no way of contacting that person, you'll just have to follow my guide and hope for the best.

You can't just add new stuff and a new cache and have the old stuff show up. When you create a cache, you have to cache EVERYTHING at once. If there's anything you want from the old hack, you need to have those songs present in Stepmania's Songs folder when you create your cache.

ah ok, i see. when you say "everything from the old hack" that doesn't include official itg1 and 2, right?

kind of a stupid question, but i'm being really careful not to mess everything up :p

Officials (and their own cache) are in the "data0.zip" archive. Unless you've removed that from its partition to add the resynced officials to your hack, then no, don't worry about caching the officials with your custom content. It's already there and separate in that "data0.zip" archive.
