Thats in oITG right?

I could be wrong, but I think this works in all versions of stepmania.

I'm not sure if it worked in 3.9, because I never stepped files when I used 3.9 (and, slightly related, I never used 3.95), but I know it works in all the versions of 4 and 5.

Ehh Ill find out next time I use edit mode.

I don't believe that's the case in SM 3.95. I use those F11 and F12 keys whenever I'm messing with old files, but the offset only applies to the song you're currently playing, not the global offset.

To answer the original question though, that works on oITG/3.95. Yeah, idk about 3.9, but who the groove actually uses that one anymore...

I use 3.95. Shift + F11/F12 adjusts the global. Pretty sure that's how it is in all versions of SM as well, including OpenITG.

I forgot about this thread in relation to all the FTP stuff getting wiped. I don't believe I have the originals; I'll try to re-do the pictures in the near future.

Whoa, thanks for reminding me that I really needed to update this. I updated the fuck outta the first post.

I really do think that my syncing guide and my machine hacking guide should be stickied now that they are updated. It's kinda silly for the simfile making guide to be stickied but not these.

I'm still not sure why you recommend using a global offset of -0.012. The way I see it, there are two sensible choices:
  • Set your global offset to -0.009 so that you don't have to do any extra math to the song's offset after syncing it.
  • Set your global offset to whatever feels best on your setup, calculate the difference from -0.009, and add that to each song's offset. This is what I do.

Completely valid, of course. I just felt it was easier to explain it the way I did as compared to explaining where a global of -0.009 came from. If anyone wants to make the logical dash conclusion that you did, they will. Most other people are too lazy to figure out the logistics of any of this, as evidenced by the backlash this method was first met with when I published it. (Read the AIJ thread. Yikes.)
