Alright, so here's the story.
I work in heavy construction.
I build scaffolds for 10 hours a day.
I'm not the cleanest soul ever when I get out.

There's a particular place I go to when my work lunch
is insufficient and I find myself overly hungry when I get out.
I choose this place because it's not nasty as shit like BK or McD's,
and still remains kinda cheap with nice deli quality meals.
It's great.

ANYWAYS, there's this one particular girl that works there,
definitely around my age if not maybe 1 year younger which is fine.
No lie she's probably the cutest thing I've ever seen.
But never in my life have I choked that hard on my game.
I figured I'd pull one stunt, but I don't know how that'll work.

So here's the plan:
Every now and then, there's moments such as:
While she's ringing up my order,
When she brings me my food,
To "check on me" to make sure everything's all good,
and just before I leave.

Usually during these moments, she'll, as a waitress type occupation,
ask if there's anything else I may need or something similar.
Thought I'd look at her with a smile and say "your number?".

Srsly though, I just got out of a 2 year relationship.
My game is TERRIBLE now.

Every time I start talking to a girl I
immediately interact as though it was the ex,
which is a terrible idea altogether, but I can't help it.
It's just how I was for 2 straight years and then boom.
Dropped off the face of the earth.
It's like taking a domesticated chicken and expecting it to live just fine
in the wild after 5 years of captivity starting the day it was hatched.

That prooobably won't work. What you want to do is have that kind of funny, flirty attitude with her all the time. And converse with her a little. I mean she'll start remembering you if you make an impression on her, and then you'll get a little friendly and you can ask her how her day was or whatever. After about a week or two of this you ask her out. By this I mean while you're talking to her a little pick up on something interesting she says and say you'd love to hear more about it, or simply ask her what time she gets off and if she'd like to go for a walk. The trick is to plant the seed first, let it grow a little (with some watering and sunshine on your part, of course) and then when the fruit is ripe, pluck it.

Treating every girl like your ex is of course horrible, and it's definitely something you're imposing on yourself for some reason. The solution is to STOP DOING IT. For practice, flirt with all cute girls you see -- even when you're dating you should be flirty with chicks so you don't get rusty. Your girlfriend won't mind unless you're overdoing it or she's a psycho, in which case you have to tone it down or date a non-psycho, respectively. This is how I stay fresh -- right now I'm seeing two girls unofficially, chasing four, and flirting with all the rest. So yeah, get flirty. The phone number thing is a great idea for a flirt, but remember to look up into her eyes and smile as you say it. If you can have friends with you all the better, because they'll both make you look cooler and help you feel more confident. Like I said earlier this girl needs a little softening up before you move in for the kill, so while you do that flirt the hell out of other girls and see what happens. Even girls you don't know in record stores or whatever. Practice is practice and it's good to feel out your ground and see what works for you and what doesn't.

I'm guessing go home and groom a bit first,

Yeah, you're gonna want to joke around with her and stuff and once she feels comfortable with you you can start the teasing. But be friendly first, if she doesn't like you or she's not interested it's up to you to plant that seed.
